An effort is being made at Eureka to get up an excursion party for Lake Tahoe. If the party consists of fifty persons the tickets for the round trip will cost only $32.

It will not all be surprising if they bring double the maximum number for the Eureakans have plenty of money and are always ready to go off on a lark.

100 years ago

Word comes from Mazuma, Nevada, that relief work is well in hand and the small town is rapidly being straightened out.

The six patients have been moved to a hospital (The town of Mazuma was washed away in a thunderstorm and is located near Lovelock. Eleven were killed and $100,000 in damage was reported in the flash flood from thunderstorms that struck in the middle of the night.)

70 years ago

A Sheriff's posse, an airplane and brush fire fighters sought four armed inmates from the Paxton Hall, Sonoma State Home for the feeble-minded from Eldridge, California after the fugitives beat Sheriff Jack Clawson of Lovelock and escaped from custody. The four stole a car in Reno and had been arrested by Clawson.

50 years ago

A disturbing jump in the level of radioactive iodine 131 has prompted the diversion of Salt Lake City milk supply from pasture-fed cattle to those feeding on dry grain and hay. The sudden rise occurred after above ground nuclear testing in Nevada.

20 years ago

The Kit Carson trail officially opens. The first of 350 to 400 persons are expected to walk the trail today. Actors portraying Hannah Clapp, Samuel Clemens and brewmeister Jacob Klein are part of the tour.

10 years ago

After complaints from Carson City residents, plans for a new Boys and Girls Club at Northridge and Lompa Lane are put on hold.
