Prizes for Victory gardens: The Victory garden committee for Carson City has offered the following prizes to local gardeners: Adults - for best garden - Bairs jewelry store $25 war bond. Second prize: War saving stamps in amount of $10. Children - For best garden: Bair's jewelry store award of $5 in war savings stamps. Second prize $2.50 in war savings stamps.

B'Sghetti's restaurant owner Scott Doerr is featured in "Sunday's Rock 'n' Roll" magazine when he entered a marathon in San Diego. He received a medal on a thick blue ribbon. Of the 21,000 runners, Doerr finished in the top 20 percent.
