Carmen Aguera, 58 years of age, Truckee resident for the past 22 years, passed away in Auburn, CA. at the Auburn Faith Hospital on June 11, 2012. Funeral Mass was held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the Assumption Catholic Church, 10930 Alder Drive, Truckee, CA. Visitation was Friday, June 15 from 12 noon to 7:00 PM at the Truckee-Tahoe Mortuary 10126 Church St., Truckee, CA.
Carmen was born in San Fernando, CA. She moved to Truckee in 1990, from Carson City, Nevada where she had lived for 20 years. Carmen was very active in Special Olympics from 1970 to 1990, winning many gold and silver metals in Cross Country Skiing, Bowling and Basketball. She was in Jazzercise here in Truckee and the ceramics classes at the Truckee-Donner Rec Center.
Survivors are her brother Joe R. Aguera (Clare), of Truckee, CA; sister, Frances Galarza (Marvin) of Atlanta, Georgia; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her sister, Prudence Hayes; and her parents Joe and Matilda Aguera.
