Obituary: Paul Eugene Flemming

Paul was born in Tulare, California on May 15, 1928, the son of Frances Eugene Flemming and Maggie Francis Norman. He grew up in the central valley area of California and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Fresno, California in 1947.

Upon graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served both on active duty and in the U.S. Navy Reserves. While in the U.S. Navy Reserves, he was called again to active duty during the Korean Conflict.

While stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, he met Marjorie Ruth Rudiger who became his wife in September, 1947. They were married for 44 years until Marjorie's death in 2004.

Paul worked in the laundry and dry cleaning industry for most of his life. For a time, he owned his own laundry and dry cleaning business in Selma, California. He ultimately retired from the State of Nevada as a vocational instructor at the Nevada State Minimum Security Prison in Carson City, Nevada.

Upon retirement, Paul and Marjorie toured the United States in their RV and settled in Bullhead City, Arizona and then moved to Laughlin, Nevada until Marjorie's death in 2004. Paul then returned to Northern Nevada and resided there until his death at Carson Tahoe Hospital on March 12, 2012.

He is survived by his two sisters, Betty L. Lackey of Madera, California and Nadine Mayhew of Yuma, Arizona; his three sons, Paul E. Flemming, Jr. of Sparks, Nevada; David A. Flemming of Dayton, Nevada; and Donald C. Flemming of Silver Springs, Nevada. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
