Obituary: Elfrieda Martha Greene

Elfrieda Martha Greene, 93, of Carson City, NV was called home on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 with her beloved granddaughter Justine Talbott by her side. Elfrieda was born July 15, 1918 in Shawano, WI to the late Edward and Alvina Springborn.

Elfrieda was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on June 12, 1932 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Story Hill, WI. After graduating from high school, she left Wisconsin and moved to Southern California. In California is where she met and married Henry Andrew Greene. Elfrieda was a full time homemaker who devoted her life to her family. She was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts and she enjoyed teaching Sunday School at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Northridge, CA. Many of her grandchildren were richly blessed as they grew up in her presence.

In 1994, Elfrieda moved to Carson City, NV where she met many new friends. She led a very active retirement and especially enjoyed going to lunches and dinners with her many friends. With a passion for reading, she always looked forward to her regular visits to the library.

Elfrieda was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Andrew Greene, two brothers and one sister.

Left to carry on her legacy and love are her two sons, William H. Greene, James E. Greene (wife, Patricia) and her daughter, Christine L. Leising; one brother, Earl 'Bud' Springborn (wife, Cleone); nine grandchildren, Robert Greene (wife, Jenna), Jennifer Greene, Jessica Talbott-Therres, Ashley Greene, Justine Talbott (fiance, Justin Wilson), Patrick Greene, Amanda Greene, Christopher Greene and Natalie Greene; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also numerous good friends and neighbors including her very best friend, Chiyo Peterson.

There will be a Memorial service for Elfrieda at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville, NV on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 11:00am.
