Obituary: Virginia "Ginger" Carolyn Larkin

A Mass of Christian burial for Virginia ('Ginger') Carolyn Larkin, 73, a Carson City resident for the past 45 years, will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church. A Rosary service will immediately precede the Mass at 10:30 am.

Ginger passed away on March 16, 2012, at home.

Ginger was born July 31, 1938, in New Orleans, LA, to Epifania and Mary Daura. She graduated from St. Josephs High School in 1956, and attended Tulane University. On February 17, 1962, she married Donald William Larkin, her husband of 41 years until his passing in 2003.

Don and Ginger moved to Carson City in 1967 and founded Capital Glass. Ginger remained active in the family business until her retirement last year.

Ginger was active in the community, volunteering her time to the Little League Baseball program and the Catholic Church. She was a participant in the Sundae Trio Bowling League, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Ginger enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, especially with her bowling friends after her husband's passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joseph.

Among her survivors are her sons and daughters-in-law Scott and Lisa of Minden; Greg and Kelly, Keith and Katie and David and Jamie, all of Carson City; Daniel and Brenda of Reno; grandchildren, Kendall (husband John), Lindsay, Olivia, Conner, Adam, Mackenzie, Benjamin, Camille, Neena and Allison; great-grandchild, Piper; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her dear friend Patricia Walters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either St. Teresa's Catholic Community, 3000 N. Lompa Lane, Carson City, NV 89706, or St. Mary's Hospice of Northern Nevada, 429 Elm St., Reno, NV 89503.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City immediate following the Mass.
