Bill M. Green was born in Syre, Oklahoma, October 30, 1938 and passed away on March 17, 2012 in Washington State where he had semi-retired.

He moved to Carson City, Nevada in 1959, began buying land and slinging a hammer in the off hours, even after he was hired by the Carson Nugget as a maintenance man.

In the early 60's, at the age of 25, he was promoted to the position of General Manager of the Nugget and began his long term association with the Adams brothers which resulted in him becoming a major shareholder along with other key personnel, and the catalyst in the casino's largest expansion in the mid 1980's.

Simultaneously he, with brothers Don and Cecil, and "adopted brother/son" Ron Graves, continued to build homes, apartments, motels and condominiums as Green Construction in the Eagle Valley, Carson Valley, Reno, Tahoe, Tonopah and Beatty. This construction company was the builder and continuous remodeler of the Nugget and numerous other Nevada businesses.

Although Bill owned apartments throughout the community, he strongly believed that everyone should be a homeowner. Many people in the Carson City area were able to purchase their first, second and third homes from Bill because he would consider whatever you had to trade. Over the years he considered cars, jewelry, an ore cart, boats, a buck board & a steer as acceptable down payments.

In addition to the construction company, he at one time or the other owned and sold the Stage Stop in Virginia City, Western Roadrunner Motorhome Company, Captain Jon's at Tahoe Vista, the Hunger Hut Diner, in addition to lots, acreage, apartments, laundromats, and motels throughout the West.

He enjoyed his life to the fullest and laughed often, counting among his friends ranchers, real estate agents, sheepherders, carpenters, bankers, waitresses, trades people, state workers and governors who all would agree that no one could grill a steak like he did. His legacy will live through the many entrepreneurs and working people whom he supported, many still operating and thriving years after he left this community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Ruby Green and his brother Don. He is survived by his loving wife Dana Richards Green, daughters Teri Green-Preston, Tami Mosser (Jeff), Juli Burn (Bob) and Connie Rose (Ken), brother Cecil Green, sisters Ginger Flood and Kelly 'Babe' MacKeller (Bob), Ron Graves( Denise) and grandchildren Todd Graves, Taffy McDonnell, Trevor Green, Travis Mosser, Kevin Burn, Theron Huntamer, Tristin Huntamer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be private family celebration of his life. Please share your memories by signing the online memory book at www.harrisonfamilymortuary.com.
