Two businesses in Gardnerville apparently had their windows shot with a small-caliber firearm over the weekend.

Douglas County deputies were called about 5:30 a.m. Sunday to a call of possible shots fired at the Nevada Ugly Bar in Gardnerville. A bartender told them that he had been cleaning up inside the bar after closing about two hours earlier when he heard a loud "pop" from outside and saw the front window fracture and break, according to a press release.

Deputies saw a small hole in the glass consistent with small-caliber ammunition. They checked surrounding businesses and found a similar hole in the front-door window of a neighboring business.

The shots may have been fired by a bar patron who had been escorted from the bar earlier after refusing to leave at closing time, according to the release.

Douglas County Secret Witness is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator. Callers would be anonymous. Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator John Preston at 782-9909 or Douglas County Secret Witness at 782-7463.
