Alan Adams has agreed to surrender the gaming license he held for what is now High Sierra Brewing on Carson Street in a deal with the Nevada Gaming Commission.
AA Gaming was accused of not filing key-employee applications for the sports bar's general manager position in June 2008. Regulators filed a similar complaint in August 2010, and AA Gaming temporarily shut down in October of that year.
In February 2011, the sports bar and restaurant reopened as High Sierra Brewing Co. under the management of Jim Phalan of Firkin Pubs.
By March, gaming regulators had again warned AA Gaming officials that they were not in compliance because of missing employee paperwork.
Phalan said his restaurant and bar have nothing to do with the complaint or, in fact, with gambling. He said High Sierra has never held any Nevada gaming license and doesn't operate any slot or poker machines. He said that he is a tenant and that the 17 machines there were operated through United Coin under a contract with Adams.
There are currently no machines in the bar.
Under the settlement, AA Gaming must pay $2,000 to the gaming commission, surrender the establishment's gaming license and indemnify the state and gaming regulators against any and all claims including attorney costs.
Phalan couldn't be reached for further comment Tuesday.
