Dancing shoes: S.H. Smart was cutting some wood and struck the ax into his left foot producing a deep gash. He will wear no dancing shoes for some time.

New Scheme: J.F.A. Lynch purchased a little volume entitled "Courtship Made Easy and How to Propose." He concluded to try some of the effects of the stereotype, mailing a dozen proposals of marriage to various ladies in town and is reported as having a great deal of fun out of the racket.

Stewart: Senior high school students are graduating early to aid in the program of defense. The boys will be able to take over a month earlier the defense work and tasks they have qualified through general instruction, special shop training and experience at Stewart.

Excludes woman: Whether women should be admitted to membership of the Capitol Press Club. On a vote, a majority of the membership upheld the exclusion of women.
30 YEARS AGO
Governor List named thirteen persons, including his brother Alan List, to a committee to advise the state Department of Education to assist in allocating federal block grant money. The committee includes representatives of classroom teachers, parents. His brother is a Lovelock rancher and member of the Pershing County School board.

Metal prices: Gold $297.15 ounce, silver $4.572 and platinum $518 troy ounce.
