Six Carson High swimmers will be shooting for a berth in next week's state meet after turning in impressive performances at Friday's NIAA 4A swimming trials at the Carson Aquatic Center.
The top three today will advance to state which is slated to be held in Las Vegas. Relay events will be held today.
Sophie Holmes and Elizabeth Everest led the Carson girls.
Holmes was sixth in the 50 free (27.11) and a fourth in the 100 free (58.60). Everest also qualified for the finals in two events. She was third in the 500 free (5:32.85) and fifth in the 200 free (2:04.74).
Abi Pittman qualified fourth in the 500 free, clocking a 5:34.99. She will also swim in th 200 free consolation bracket. Danielle Stanka also made the consolation race in two events.
On the boys side, Tim Grunert put together two strong performances, finishing third in the 100 breast at 1:03.66 and taking fourth in the 200 IM at 2:09.95.
Zach White qualified eighth in the 100 free at 53.58, and he just barely missed in the 50 free with a 10th-place finish.
Gary Showalter qualified eighth in the 100 breats at 1:08.68.
Andrew Peckman barely missed in both the 200 and 500 free races, taking 10th in the 500 free at 6:18.20 and finishing 10th in the 200 free at 2:13.48.
Monte Howell had a close miss in the 500 free, finshing ninth in 6:06.27. He was 14th in the 200 free.
Cory Gentner was 13th in the 100 back at 1:09.97.
