A lucky find: Robert Logan, mason, was removing a bulletin board from the north side of the Courthouse building where he found concealed in the wall a gold watch. Likely placed by a thief who feared being captured with it in his possession.

All sorts: Your dog tax is due. The Sheriff says it must be paid by June 1 or steps will be taken to deprive your dog of the enjoyment of this fine weather.

1942 softball: The season in Carson City is scheduled to open when all-star teams captained by George Meyers and Alex McCharles. Governor E. P. Carville will pitch the first ball. Mayor C. B. Austin will be the batter and "Pete" Fodrin will wear the catcher's mask and mitt behind the plate.

Senator Paul Laxalt will be speaker at the Memorial Day observation at Lone Mountain Cemetery. John Nulty, coordinator of the events said, "We are extremely honored that Senator Laxalt can take time from his Washington schedule." Laxalt, a veteran of World War II, is a life member of Kit Carson Post 3726, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Remembering Hoss Cartwright (Dan Blocker), the big man of Bonanza who passed away 30 years ago. Every night for 14 years viewers would turn into NBC and see Hoss and the Cartwright clan "dish out a healthy dose of frontier justice."
