Don passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 at the age of 81 in Carson City, Nevada where he'd lived for more than 20 years. He was born in St. Joseph, MI on August 17, 1930. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1947 - 1968, saw two tours of duty during the Korean War, and served as an army recruiter across the Western U.S. Following his career in the Army, Donald worked for the California State Automobile Association for 24 years and retired in Carson City, NV. Donald is survived by his wife of 25 years Carrie Smith (nee Anderson), his three children Deborah, Denise, and Douglas and his eight grandchildren Nicole, Gregory, Mitchell, Danielle, Matthew, Ryan, Hannah, and Hunter. Don loved watching and betting on college football and enjoyed watching professional golf, visiting his grandchildren, and spoiling his dog Roxie.
