Robert R. Barela, 49 passed away at his home in Carson City, NV on Monday May 14, 2012.
Robert was born in Bellflower, CA. He moved from southern CA with his parents Robert Barela, Sr. and Elaine in 1970. He attended elementary and high school in Carson City, where he loved the majestic beauty he so enjoyed. He worked many years at Lake Tahoe in the building trade as a finish carpenter and custom cabinet maker. He learned his trade from his father at age 15. Robert was well known and respected by many for his exceptional talents and infectious smile. Lastly, owning a cabinet shop in Payson, AZ. and building custom homes and remodels. He was a visionary artist creating many Native American wood carvings, glass etchings, and miniature teepee lights which where an important part of his life. Robert also loved to cook, hunt, fish and ride his motorcycle. Robert had 2 children Bernadette and Robert Barela III who reside in CA.
Those to cherish his memory are his loving mother Elaine Valenzuela, 2 children, sister Zina Barela Jabi, 3 nephews, aunts, uncle, numerous cousins, loved ones and friends.
A celebration of Robert's life will be led by a Native American blessing in conjunction with a Christian ceremony to be held Tuesday, May 29 at 6:00 pm, at his home, 924 Rolando Way, Carson City.
In lieu of flowers a donation to your favorite charity would honor Robert's memory.
