Local wonders: A scientific gentleman from San Francisco visited our State Prison and expressed wonderment at the great curiosities found at the prison quarry - fossil ivory and petrified clams encased in solid rock at a depth of 34 feet are no trifling items for scientists, to say nothing of footprints at the same depth, 21 inches in length and five to seven inches in width, belonging to the pre-historic man, which are to be found there. Also found in the quarry are footprints of the extinct hairy elephant. (Continued on Saturday)
