Thanksgiving pie available to aid charitable institutions

The second annual “Pie to the Rescue” fundraising event, which last year raised almost $2,000 for the Ron Wood Food Bank, is under way in bigger and better form.This year’s beneficiaries are the Ron Wood food bank again, plus the Family Vision Food Truck and the Our Time Outreach Center. According to Susan Sorenson, last year there were 80 pies supplied by chefs from city restaurants, but this year the total increased to 220. Chefs from 17 locations make pumpkin, pecan and apple pies for ordering by Nov. 19 and pickup two days later.The “Pie to the Rescue” slogan is buy a pie and feed a family.The pies, which cost $25 each or five for $100, are geared to be available for Thanksgiving or any other autumnal purpose, and pick up is set from 3-7 p.m. Nov. 21 at Capital Christian Center, 1600 Snyder Ave. The chefs are from the following outlets.Artisan Cafe’.
