Hickey named Assembly GOP caucus leader

(AP) — Assemblyman Pat Hickey of Reno has been named minority leader of the Republican caucus.Hickey was chosen by his colleagues during a meeting Friday in Carson City. His selection is the final leadership post to be filled as lawmakers look ahead to the 2013 session that begins Feb. 4.Assemblywoman Marilyn Kirkpatrick of North Las Vegas was selected earlier this week as chairman of the majority caucus and is in line to become Assembly speaker when the session convenes.On the Senate side, Democrats chose Sen. Mo Denis of Las Vegas as majority leader, while Republicans elected Sen. Michael Roberson of Las Vegas to be their minority leader. Democrats maintained an 11-10 majority in the Senate after Tuesday’s election and now have a 27-15 advantage in the Assembly.
