Hamilton Solar LLC has announced it has completed installation and commissioning of 1.3 megawatts of solar photovoltaics for the Nevada Public Works Department. Built at four sites in Northern and Southern Nevada, the solar power delivers clean and sustainable energy, bringing significant cost savings to the state.
The first installation, a 116 kW ground-mount system at Jean Conservation Camp in southern Nevada, is comprised of 492 SunTech 235-watt solar panels.
A second ground-mount system was installed at Nevada Youth Training Center in Elko and consists of 2,892 SunTech 235-watt solar panels. At 600 kW and spanning 2.5 acres, this is the largest of the four installations for the state.
A 118 kW ground-mount solution was utilized for the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City and consists of 504 SunTech 235-watt solar panels.
The final installation is a combination carport, shade structure and ground-mount system consisting of 1,658 SunTech 235-watt panels delivering 390 kW of clean power to the Flamingo Desert Research Institute.
The combined systems are expected to generate more than 2 million kilowatt hours of energy annually, providing the state of Nevada savings up to $200,000 per year.
The new solar energy systems allow the state to generate enough electricity each day to power over 574 average homes and will spare the air nearly 832 tons of harmful greenhouse gases annually.
