Cameo appearances anticipated for ‘None of the Above!’ performances

Cameo appearances by well-known Carson City residents will lend an air of mystery to eight pre-election performances of “None of the Above!” that begin with opening night on Oct. 19.A musical revue and satire by local writer-composer Robert L. Reid, the production lampoons politics and the presidential campaign. It will run over three weekends, into early November, in the Maizie Jesse Harris Black Box Theater at the Brewery Arts Center.“We have some cameo pieces,” said Norma Conway, the show’s producer. “It will be a different person in each show.” Conway has been lining up folks to fill the eight mystery cameo slots. She indicated the theater’s name won’t face desecration by at least one of those appearing from the audience to handle the brief cameo role.Conway also pledged a laugh-filled and thought-provoking show.“It is sure to bring side-splitting laughter, as well as incite controversy and debate just days before the election,” she said. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 19, 20, 26, 27 and Nov. 2 and 3, as well as Sundays at 2 p.m. on Oct. 21 and 28. Tickets are $18 for the general public, $15 for seniors and students, as well as members of Wild Horse Theater Company and the BAC. Reid, who also created the musical revue “I Say Nevada!” at the same venue years ago, will play piano in a live ensemble providing music for his satirical look at politicians and the usual suspects they attract. The production is being directed by Jeffrey Scott of Wild Horse.“It’s a fabulous cast and Jeffrey gets the job done,” Conway said. “Through sketches, songs and dance, the show leaves no political party safe.”She said those lampooned are an “array of easy targets, including Barack Obama, Mitt Romney, the Tea Party, Rick Perry, Donald Trump, Democratic party hypocrisy, Michele Bachmann, trickle-down economics, campaign spending billionaires, Wall Street swindlers and more.” Tickets are available from the BAC box office at (775) 883-1976 or online at www.breweryarts.org.
