Tickets are on sale for the Douglas County Historical Society’s Haunted Weekend set for Oct. 18-21.The weekend starts early on Oct. 18 with the Haunted Minden Ghost Walk. Tours depart from the CVIC Hall on Esmeralda Street in Minden. Tour times are 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Ghost hunters and history buffs. Northern Nevada Ghost Hunters lead a real ghost investigation Oct. 19 at The New Rancho Grande in Gardnerville, the former historic Ritchford Hotel. The owners and one of the upstairs tenants have reported several unexplained events such as a mysterious red-haired lady in the restroom. Tickets are limited, so pre-purchase is suggested. The restaurant will offer a ghost hunters dinner special at 7 p.m. with 10 percent off any menu item. Join the Northern Nevada Ghost Hunters for dinner and an opportunity for questions. Ghost hunting will begin about 8:30 p.m.The following morning, Northern Nevada Ghost Hunters will conduct a ghost-hunting workshop at the Courthouse Museum in Genoa from 10 a.m. until noon. Tickets for the workshop are limited. The Haunted Genoa Cemetery Tour is Oct. 20 through one of Nevada’s oldest cemeteries. Guided tours depart every 15 minutes starting at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. As guests stroll through this historic cemetery they will encounter many early Nevada pioneers.Following the tour at about 9 p.m. Northern Nevada Ghost Hunters will conduct a real ghost investigation at the historic Courthouse Museum in Genoa. Tickets are limited.The weekend wraps up on Oct. 21 with the Haunted Genoa Ghost Walk at 10 a.m. at the Courthouse Museum. Visitors step back in time as they learn about hangings, murders and suicides in historic Genoa.Northern Nevada Ghost Hunters is a nonprofit group with a desire to understand the world of the paranormal.
