A Halloween train ride to raise money for local cancer patients and their caregivers may not be spooky, but there will be plenty of spirits around.“We’re calling it an adult spirit train ride,” explained Susan Sutton, founder of the nonprofit foundation Empowered Lives Through the Cancer Journey. “We’re going to be serving wine and beer.”Money raised will go to the foundation, which supports and empowers cancer patients and their caregivers throughout the treatment process. “If we sell it out, after cost, we could make $1,000,” she said. “We really want to do that. There’s so many patients with needs during the winter season.”The V&T Railroad Halloween Adult Spirits Train will be 6 p.m. Oct. 27 at the F Street Station in Virginia City. Tickets are $55 or $100 for a couple, and include train ride, music and refreshments. Costumes are encouraged, and special accommodation rates are available. For more information about the foundation or to purchase a ticket, contact Sutton at susan.sutton25@yahoo.com or 775-297-3780.
