RENO - Carson High's volleyball squad, coming off an emotional win over Galena on Tuesday, was swept by Bishop Manogue in three games on Wednesday night.
Manogue won 25-17, 25-20 and 25-18. Carson fell to 8-4 overall and 2-2 in Division I play.
"We didn't pass the ball well," Carson coach Robert maw said. "We were back on our heels. We weren't the same team that we were on Tuesday. They have some really good outside hitters."
Savannah Smith led Carson with four kills and two blocks. Kaitlyn Jimmy had six blocks and two kills, Courtney Hack had nine assists, three blocks and two digs. Kammy Forrest added five blocks and two kills.
DAYTON LOSES TO VIKINGS
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE - Dayton dropped a narrow 3-2 decision to South Tahoe in a 1A volleyball match Wednesday night.
Dayton took the opening game 25-16, but South Tahoe won 25-22 and 25-17 for a 2-1 lead. Dayton knotted the match with a 25-23 win, but South Tahoe pulled out the match with a 15-13 win in the fifth game.
Madison Foley and Cora Williams led Dayton hitters with 15 and 10 kills, respectively. Ashley Vickers finished with five knockdowns. Foley also had six digs and two blocks. Ashley Vickers had five kills, four digs and four aces. Peach Coons had 18 assists and seven digs.
Foley left the match in the third game with a high ankle injury and didn't return.
"We started tough," coach Monica Halverson said. "We lost our momentum in the second game. I think if we would have won that second game we would have taken them in three, Madi got hurt, but we played real hard in the fourth and fifth games. I was proud of the way we played."
VIRGINIA CITY SWEEPS
VIRGINIA CITY - Jamie Poston had 17 kills, 12 digs, five assists and two blocks to lead Virginia City to a 28-26, 25-19 and 25-16 non-league win over Silver Stage Wednesday night.
Lea Laney contributed 11 digs and four kills, Nikki D'Agostino had three assists, five kills and eight digs, and Corinna Obermayr had 10 kills and 10 digs and three aces. Riley Strahan finished with nine digs, two aces, two kills and a block.
Virginia City improved to 6-3 and visits Sierra Lutheran on Friday.
YERINGTON SWEEPS NORTH TAHOE
TAHOE CITY - Kassidy Lommori and Brooke Menesini had seven kills each to lead Yerington past North Tahoe 25-17, 25-5 and 25-12 Tuesday night.
Lommori also had a team-high 12 digs. Savena Rogers finished with 10 digs, two aces and nine assists. Arcelia Arellano collected nine assists and four digs with Chloe Dane getting five kills and eight digs.
Yerington is 16-3 this season.
