Tillitt scores twice in CHS victory

Kenzie Tillitt scored two goals to lead the Carson girls soccer team to a 4-1 win at McQueen Friday night. Carson added goals from Lorena Gomez and Kiahna Pimental. Carson coach Greg Lehman credited the team’s wing play. He said Danielle Sandage, Bailie Zuber and Karla Reyes had strong games for Carson. The Senators 4-0-1 host Damonte at 5 p.m. Tuesday.VOLLEYBALLDayton falls to InclineThe Dayton volleyball team won the first game, but dropped the next three in a four-game loss to Incline. Dayton fell 25-13, 21-25, 23-25, and 23-25. Coach Monica Halverson said that Cora Williams was strong at the net for the Dust Devils. Dayton, 16-3 overall and 2-1, plays at Truckee on Wednesday before hosting Elko and Spring Creek on Friday and Saturday respectively. JV FOOTBALLCarson tops North Valleys 47-22Dilyn Rooker took the opening kickoff 85 yards and the Carson JV football team rolled to a 47-22 win over North Valleys on Friday night. Rooker, who would later return a bad North Valley’s punt for his second TD of the game, ended up with three scores on the night. QB Nolan Shine would add a five-yard score while completing 10 passes. Corey Reid would add a touchdown. Brandon Maffei rushed for 85 yards and two scores. Michael Wemheuer added four extra points. Brandon Mandoki made six tackles, and had a sack. Jacob Guthrie added a sack and two tackles. Gerardo Labato, Kylar Perez and Devin Mathews also had five tackles each.CROSS COUNTRYDayton cross country coach Shawn Anderson was impressed with the running of sophomores Phillip Hevener, Nick Langstaff and Aaron Elissa. All three have improved between 90 seconds and two minutes from last year. At North Tahoe on Friday, Elissa finished 10th out of 140 runners in 22:21. Joe Law was 29th at 23:36; Skyler Rose was 30th in 23:42; Hevener was 73rd in 25:36; Langstaff was 75th in 25:37; and David White was 88th in 26:31 on the 3.5 mile course that includes a half-mile uphill. On the girls side, Katrina Breithaupt, racing for the third time in eight days, was fourth in 25:27. Hanna Elissa finished 58th in 31:43.Dayton is hosting an invitation at 3 p.m. Friday.
