TRUCKEE - Competing without injured starter Madison Foley, Dayton fell in straight sets in a Division I-A volleyball match at Truckee on Wednesday, 25-16, 25-13 and 25-17.

Dayton head coach Monica Halverson said she was pleased with the way her team played in the absence of Foley, who is nursing a sprained ankle suffered last Wednesday against South Tahoe. Halverson expects the junior to return sometime next week.

"I thought the girls played really well," Halverson said. "I think everybody did a good job stepping up blocking. But we need to be more of a finishing team. We set it up, and then something happens and we don't finish it. The back row (Ashley Vickers, Taryn Schriner, and Lettie Lynch) struggled in getting good defensive position, which resulted in a lot of errors. "

The coach complemented the play of junior Taryn Schriner, who typically plays libero but was moved to left outside hitter, where she helped defend against Truckee's attack led by Mackenzie Redner.

Dayton fell to 14-4 while Truckee improved to 7-7 with its sixth straight win.
