The beginning of a new choral group this fall was announced by the Carson City Symphony Association this week. The new chorus, an extension of the Carson Chamber Singers, will perform in two or more concerts with the Carson City Symphony each year. It is open to all singers from high school age through adulthood and will be directed by Michael Langham.“This is a new choral adventure for people who want to sing great choral works accompanied by orchestra,” said Langham, who also directs the Carson Chamber Singers and is principal organist at Reno’s Trinity Episcopal Church.“I envision the group growing to a hundred or more singers to balance the sound of the orchestra,” Langham said.Rehearsal for the first concert begins in late October. That first concert is the Dec. 9 “Holiday Treat”. Called the Carson City Symphony Chorus, said Langham, the new group offers another chance for amateur and volunteer professional vocalists, plus high school or church choir members, to sing choral masterpieces.
