The meeting of the Curry Engine company was not to elect officers, but to make nominations for the 20th. The committee asked the county to furnish new suction hose. The current hose is not long enough to reach water in the cisterns when low.

Controller Hallock’s reason for ousting a faithful public servant from the superintendency of the Insane Asylum is embodied in the following resolution which the Board refused to allow reporter’s to copy. The basis is complaints from physicians not allowed to compete for the position.

Tomorrow evening the ladies will hold forth at the Sagebrush Club. It is ladies night. Miss Oddie will act as chairman of the reception.

Members of the sewing club met Monday at the home of Mrs. Bix Melter. Mrs. Ed Silsby was awarded the defense stamps for the evening.

Donald W. Reynolds, founder of the Donrey Media Group, died at 2 p.m. He was 86 and died at sea after a brief illness aboard the Ligurian Sea bound for Barcelona. The Donrey Media Group has as a member newspaper, the Nevada Appeal.

Trent Dolan is the son of Bill Dolan, who wrote this column for the Nevada Appeal from 1947 until his death in 2006.
