Following are the Carson City Health Department’s food-service inspections for April 4. All scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations.
• Arco AM PM, 1017 N. Carson St., scored 92 points. A hot-food warmer with sandwiches was noted at 103 degrees. Nacho cheese was noted at 120 degrees at time of inspection. Ice was noted for sale without an address of the point of origin. Frozen pizza was noted in the freezer without a label stating expiration date and point of origin. Three dozen eggs were noted in a display case that had expiration dates previous to the date of inspection.
• Bistro at Bryan, 901 S. Stewart St., scored 100 points.
• Carson Lanes Eleventh Frame Lounge, 4600 Snyder Ave., scored 98 points. The ice machine was dirty inside, repeat violation. There was biofilm buildup in the scoop storage bin at the customer ice bin.
• Carson Lanes Snack Bar, 4600 Snyder Ave., scored 97 points. At least one employee must be a certified food handler during all hours of operation.
• Caterpillar’s, 314 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.
• Crossroads Lounge, 300 E. Winnie Lane, scored 99 points. Found the ambient temperature of the walk-in to be at 55 to 60 degrees, corrected on site.
• Del Taco, 822 E. College Parkway, scored 93 points. Food handlers were not properly washing hands before donning clean gloves, corrected on site. Staff person was preparing a ready-to-eat food with bare hands, corrected on site.
• El Aguila Real, 3220 E. Highway 50, Suite 6, scored 96 points. Food stored in refrigerators and freezers was not properly dated and labeled. Waste trash bin lids were left open. Grease barrel was left open and soiled with grease and food debris. The kitchen ceiling was soiled with exhaust hood grease and dust. The 2011 Carson City health permit was posted in the front of the restaurant.
• Jacksons Food Stores, 1400 Rand St., scored 100 points.
• Los Caporales Supermarket Bakery, 1621 E. Highway 50, Suite G, scored 99 points. Packaged foods that are produced and sold on site in the cold reach-in were not properly labelled.
• Los Caporales Supermarket Meat Department, 1621 E. Highway 50, Suite G, scored 95 points. The meat slicer was not clean of old food debris. A dirty knife was found stored on the wall-mounted magnetic meat slicer. At least one employee of the meat department must be a certified food handler during all hours of operation.
• Los Caporales Supermarket Takeout, 1621 E. Highway 50, Suite G, scored 96 points. There was no thermometer inside the reach-in opposite the hand sink. At least one employee must be a certified food handler.
• Los Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant, 2000 N. Carson St., scored 100 points.
• Mom & Pop’s Nook, 401 S. Carson St., scored 98 points. Soups and hot foods were noted as not being pre-warmed to 165 degrees prior to being placed in a warming unit.
• Panaderia Azteca, 3189 E. Highway 50, scored 97 points. There was no certified food handler present during operational hours.
• Papa Murphy’s Take and Bake Pizza, 1894 E. Highway 50, Suite 5, scored 100 points.
• Save Mart Supermarkets Bakery, 4348 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.
• Save Mart Supermarkets Deli Department, 4348 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.
• Save Mart Supermarkets Grocery, 4348 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.
• Save Mart Supermarkets Meat Department, 4348 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.
• Save Mart Supermarkets Produce Department, 4348 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.
• Save Mart Supermarkets Seafood Department, 4348 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.
• Shea’s Daily Detour, 1263 S. Stewart St., scored 100 points.
• Taco Bell, 4050 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.
• Tacos El Guero, 1841 Alpine St., scored 87 points. Tamales were noted stored at room temperature. A compressed gas cylinder was noted to be fueling a lit burner ring on the floor of the mobile unit. A broken Plexiglas counter top was noted in the mobile unit. Shelves and floors of the mobile unit were soiled with dirt and food debris. Walls and ceilings of the mobile unit were soiled with dirt and grease.
• The Tap Shack, 112 Rice St., scored 96 points. Found dairy products in the reach-in with expired “use by” date. The ice machine was dirty with areas of biofilm and calcium carbonate build-up. A toothbrush was found inside the unit.
• Wally’s Pizza and Subs, 4600 Snyder Ave., Suite D, scored 100 points.
• Wendy’s, 4140 S. Carson St., scored 96 points. Equipment drain tubes were extending into the open site floor drain below floor level.
• Woody’s Bar, 1987 N. Carson St., scored 100 points.
• YoGo Frozen Yogurt & Sweet Treats, 3250 Retail Drive, Suite 105, scored 100 points.
