Cellist Stephen Framil to perform in Jacks Valley

The Carson City Symphony Association will present music, conversation, wine and dessert at 7:30 p.m. April 26 at a private home in Jacks Valley, south of Carson City. The recital will feature cellist Stephen Framil.

Symphony cellist Becky Crowe will begin the evening with a presentation on the making of a cello. Crowe studied for a year with luthier Paul Schuback in Portland, Ore. She built a double bass and three cellos. She is currently working on a smaller cello to donate to Strings in the Schools.

Following the talk, Stephen Framil will perform Bach’s Suite No. 1 in G and Schubert’s Sonata in A minor for Cello & Piano (“Arpeggione”), accompanied by pianist Sally Higgins.

Admission is $25; $20 for Symphony Association members and $5 for children 12 and younger. Tickets are limited and can be purchased at Play Your Own Music in the Carson Mall or online at CCSymphony.com.

Framil will also lead a masterclass for student cellists from 3 to 4:30 p.m. April 25 at Carson High School and will play Dvorak’s Cello Concerto with the Carson City Symphony at 4 p.m. April 28 at the Carson City Community Center.
