A 17-year-old Washoe Valley girl sustained life-threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon after her car struck a tree, rolled through a fence and then stopped on its roof.

Heather Brown was transported to the Reno hospital and is on artificial life support, according to a release from the Nevada Highway Patrol. The north-bound lanes on old U.S. Highway 395 were closed for five hours for the accident investigation and for emergency purposes.

The reason Brown steered to the left near Ames Lane around 3:57 p.m. Tuesday is being investigated.

The NHP is encouraging anyone with information to contact Trooper Doug Hildebrand at 775-689-4623 regarding case number NHP-130423030.
