One man is dead and his wife is injured after a domestic dispute turned violent in the Gardnerville Ranchos on Monday night.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office:

The incident occurred in the 1400 block of Angora Drive about 9:40 p.m. when the couple were arguing in front of their home.

The man, identified as David Woffinden, 37, went back into the home and obtained a handgun, and then shot Kimberly Woffinden once in the leg.

Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Pat Brooks said investigators think Woffinden then turned the gun on himself and fired one shot into his chest. Deputies found Woffinden lying dead in his driveway.

Kimberly Woffinden was transported by paramedics to the Carson Valley Medical Center, where she was treated.

The couple have lived in the home since 2002.
