Bicyclist injured in Fernley crash dies

The Fernley resident involved in a collision with a motor vehicle while riding his bicycle one week ago has died at Renown Regional Medical Center.

The Nevada Highway Patrol said David Bertorch, 57, died Wednesday.

The NHP said Bertroch was pedaling his bike west on Main Street in Fernley just west of the roundabout when he collided with a silver 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up driven by 52-year-old Carson Shockley of Fernley. Bertroch, who was not wearing a safety helmet, sustained serious injuries in the incident and was transported to Renown, while Shockley escaped injury.
