Man arrested in Carson City on meth and DUI counts

A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested on felony drug and other counts early Sunday at Telegraph and Curry streets.

According to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office arrest report:

A deputy pulled Randy Paul Warstler over shortly after 1 a.m. after receiving a report of a drunken driver in a vehicle with stolen plates. Warstler ran from the vehicle; the deputy caught up with him in the 300 block of North Nevada Street and took him back to the vehicle.

Warstler failed field sobriety tests, and the deputy learned that his driver’s license was revoked, that he’d been convicted of DUI in 2010 and that the plates had been reported stolen out of Fallon.

The deputy found bags in the vehicle’s center console that contained two glass pipes, a substance that appeared to be methamphetamine, a leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana, a metal spoon with white residue on it and numerous smaller plastic bags.

Warstler was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property worth less than $250, DUI-second offense, obstructing a police officer, driving with a revoked license, possession of drug paraphernalia, no proof of insurance and suspended registration. Bail was set at $2,500.

Warstler remained in custody Monday afternoon at the Carson City Jail.
