On August 20, 2013, Frederick C. Heyl, died. He was 85. Fred was born in New Jersey and moved numerous times before making Nevada his residence. He lived in Virginia City, Nv., near his eldest daughter and her family until he could no longer care for himself. He suffered from M. S. A. and it made daily tasks difficult for him. He spent the last few years of his life at Ormsby Rehabilitation Hospital in Carson City, Nv.
Before his illness struck Fred was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish and hike in the mountains. He also enjoyed sports whether it was a college football game, watching his childhood friend compete in Indy car races, or watching his grandsons play various sports. Fred is a graduate of Rutgers University, and served in the Marines during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his son, Craig A. Heyl, Mary Jo, California; his daughters: Lori D Barrington, formerly of Nevada, currently residing in Maryland, Deborah L. Shobash, California, and Victoria S. Doyle, Edward, Maryland. In addition, he is survived by his grandsons, Matthew G. Shobash, Amber, California, Eddie C Barrington, Cyndie, Quindao, China, and Robert W. Barrington, Rebecca, Oregon; and great-grandsons, Mateo Crisosto, Trent and Ryan Shobash, California. Fred is predeceased by his daughter, Leslie Ann Heyl; his great-grand-daughter, Alison Shobash, and Maxine R. Heyl, his former wife, and mother of his children.
A memorial service will be held, September 6, 2013, at 9:30 am, in the chapel of the Northern California Veteran’s Cemetery, in Igo, California.
