Another member of the Greatest Generation has passed. With his son Mike and daughter-in-law Carol at his side he quietly slipped away.Sully was born in Oroville, CA to Harrison James Sylvester and Vivian Frances (Perry) Sylvester. He later moved to Folsom, CA and graduated from high school at Orangevale, CA. On June 7 1941 he enlisted in the Navy in Sacramento, CA. Ellwood retired from the Navy on January 5, 1960 in Honolulu, HI as a Chief Mineman.Sully met Ethel Joyce Heath while both lived in Orangevale and were married at NAS Sand Point, WA on September 25, 1944 until April 23, 2000 when his beloved Joyce passed away. Sully is survived by his son Michael (Carol) of Rantoul, IL, 3 granddaughters, 12 great
grand-children and one great great grandson. Sully is also survived by his brother David (Emma) of Silver Springs and his youngest brother James “Jimmy” of Milford, TX.After living in Various places while in the Navy he was stationed in Hawaii and spent 33 years, before he and Joyce moved to Washington State and then in 1998 to Silver Springs.A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Fitzhenry’s Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
