At the skating rink tonight the melodious strains of the Carson Brass Band will impregnate the joyous air and tempt the skater to a full exercise of the most graceful and ambitious feats. The pleasures of the rink are to be sustained to the utmost limit of their capacity.

130 years ago

The new boat now being built by Capt. Todman for the Lake Tahoe travel season will be the largest and best equipped on the lake. It will be nearly as fast as the Meteor and carry 150 persons. The lake will now have what it needed, a fast and commodious boat for passenger travel.

100 years ago

The old shack opposite the Arlington Hotel, occupied by Chinese laundrymen for years, is being cleared of rubbish in preparation for removal of the structure. Charles Peters, the insurance man, will erect a handsome office on the spot.

70 years ago

Nevada’s school children are to play an important part in the state’s celebration of the Bill of Rights Week, Dec. 12-18. That Bill of Rights, it was pointed out by the governor, comprises the first 10 amendments adopted to the basic law of one country.

Don’t throw away those old decks of playing cards. Donate them to the Elk’s Cards for the Handicapped Campaign getting underway today.

It was a fowl day at the Carson Rotary Club. Rotarians saw “chickenomics,” a film which used the success story of the first successful sports mascot, the San Diego Chicken, to illustrate basic economic concepts. The “barnyard humor” targeted for high school students seemed to appeal to the Rotary membership.
