2 arrested on suspicion of thefts at Walmart stores

Two people were arrested Friday and Saturday after allegedly taking things from area Walmart stores without paying.

According to their arrest reports:

A deputy was dispatched to the Market Street Walmart in Carson City at 4:32 p.m. Saturday on a report of a woman stealing a cart full of items. Walmart security recorded the woman’s license plate, and Lyon County deputies later found the vehicle outside a Dayton casino.

The woman, Kelsey Wilkison, 25, of Carson City, was sitting at a slot machine and told the arresting deputies that she’d planned to pay for the items, but a loss-prevention officer had angered her. A deputy learned that Wilkison was on alternative-sentencing supervision.

Loss-prevention officers said they’d been watching Wilkison because they suspected her in other thefts. The total value of the items taken Saturday was $870.

She was arrested on suspicion of felony burglary and felony violation of a suspended sentence. Total bail was set at $23,000.

A 1:26 p.m. Friday, a deputy saw a vehicle fail to fully stop at Carson Meadows Drive and Musser Street. He pulled over driver Donald Davis, 28, of Dayton, who said he was in the neighborhood to take a shower.

A records check revealed that Davis was on alternative sentencing for petty larceny, with provisions allowing for searches. The deputy noticed a new 39-inch television in the backseat, as well as several DVDs and a new Kindle Fire.

The deputy asked Davis if he was employed; he said he wasn’t. While searching the vehicle, the deputy also saw an Xbox controller, two sets of earbuds and a new aquarium heater.

The deputy arrested Davis, who later acknowledged having stolen some of the items from a Douglas County Walmart. The total value of the stolen property was $692.

Davis was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of stolen property valued at more than $650, arrest of probationer and failure to stop at a stop sign. Total bail was set at $13,090.
