He said he could have not had a fair trial in Belmont as he was a stranger and no one could have known his relations to his victim (continued Thursday).

Two Chinese men engaged in a fight yesterday on King Street. The row originated in a dispute over the priority location of a wood pile. One woodman was badly cut about the head and had to be taken to Chinatown in an express wagon. The victor went right ahead and finished the job of sawing wood.

Parties arriving from Reno today state that there is a persistent rumor to the effect that a case is soon to be brought before the courts that will test the validity of the divorce law, which requires one year residency.

The growing meat shortage in the nation was reflected in Nevada this year in a 27,500-head reduction in sheep herds of the state. Nevada’s 1943 sheep population is slightly less than one-half million head.
