Doris Hayden, 85, of Gardnerville, Nevada. Passed away quickly and peacefully on November 27, 2013. Doris was born to Grace and Frank Hayden in Detroit, Michigan. Her mother remarried Frank Elwood when Doris was young and he became her true father. After graduating high school, she married Al Aldred and enjoyed building houses and sail boats; sailing their own boat on the Great Lakes. They also found great happiness in their spiritual studies and became dedicated as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1948; a decision she never regretted and loved fulfilling the rest of her life. Life took her out west where she found and married her second husband Robert Drey and lived in Truckee, California and Carson City, Nevada. Her superior clerical skills served well at many jobs, but she served the longest and enjoyed working in the field of law and retired from the Carson City District Attorney’s office. After retiring, she pursued her love of preaching and travel. She attended momentous, first-time international conventions in Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Singapore, Ireland, and Hawaii. Her goals while traveling were always on how many she could preach to along the way. Even when age and Alzheimer’s limited her abilities, she would preach to anyone who would listen and share her knowledge of Jehovah’s coming kingdom, promises and blessings. Doris will be remembered by each of us for many things like her smile, sense of humor, love of everything Irish, matching/colorful ensembles with hats, travels and experiences and love of preaching with a talent for striking up conversations in order to preach to anyone and at any time. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Geraldine Elwood, two nieces Joy Elwood and Hope Lucier (and husband Joseph) and great-nephew Sebastien Lucier. She will also be remembered by her large extended brotherhood of Jehovah’s Witnesses all over the world. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 1151 Kimmerling Road in Gardnerville, Nevada 89460.
