RUSSELL “Bud” CARPENTER HILL,Carson City, NV/ Seekonk, MASS.passed away peacefully of natural causes on Nov. 05, 2013 at his sons’ home in Sparks, NV. Bud was born in Seekonk, Mass. on May 16, 1926 and was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and Williams College. He was in the Army Air Corps and was training to fly fighters at the end of WWII. He retired from the State of Nevada as Sr. State Traffic Engineer from the Dept. of Highways in 1985. After his retirement Bud did volunteer work for the Senior Center and worked at the Nevada State Railroad Museum. He loved travel, bowling, skiing, hiking, photography and had an undying love for Nevada railroad history.Bud was preceded in death by his wife Betty Bath Hill in 1989 and his sister Dot Lisbon. He was survived by his son William T. Hill of Sparks; his daughter Carol Hill Whittier of Enfield, Connecticut and two step-daughters; Darla Walker Sebastian and Carol Wigglesworth Davidson both of Carson City. He had one grand-daughter Julia Whittier Buckley of West Hartford, Connecticut; three step-grand-daughters; Jennifer Eaton, Kirsten Farris, and Rebecca Mills and three nieces; Jeri Bath Kittredge of Carson City, Marjorie Lisbon and Margaret Motta both of Seekonk, Massachusetts. A celebration of Buds’ life will be held on February 15, 2014. Details to follow at a later date. Buds’ favorite quote was that “ He wasn’t stubborn, he was just determined”. He is greatly missed by family, friends, co-workers and his best friend and love Dollie Leonard of Carson City, Nevada.
