Thursday morning’s falling snow and below-freezing temperatures made for challenging driving conditions throughout the region during the morning commute. Nevada Highway Patrol troopers spent most of the morning responding to and investigating 22 crashes in Northern Nevada. Most involved property damage; three involves injuries, and those were minor.
Seven accidents were in Carson City and Douglas County. One was on State Route 28 near mile marker 2; another was at the on-ramp near Interstate 580 and U.S. Highway 50 East.
As for the Douglas County crashes, two separate crashes and a jack-knifed commercial motor vehicle combination happened on US 395 just south of Gardnerville. Another accident happened on U.S. 395 near Johnson Lane.
A crash closed a 2-mile stretch of westbound Interstate 80 between the state line and Gold Ranch interchange for several hours.
