The Carson City Board of Supervisors seeks applicants for three seats on the Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee.

Residents can apply through City Hall’s executive offices at 201 N. Carson St., Unit 2.

There is one at-large citizen slot, another that must have representation from Redevelopment Area 1 and a third from Area 2.

Area 1 primarily is greater downtown, though there are offshoot inclusions. Area 2 is south of the downtown and mostly along Carson Street, plus business-related areas to the east and west, though it also has offshoot inclusions.

Applicants must be registered voters in the city and be business owners/operators or property owners in the designated areas.

Committee membership is voluntary, which means there is no compensation, and any applicant should be aware the application becomes public information.

A commitment of at least 10 hours a month is expected.

Interviews will be conducted at the first opportunity after qualified applicants submit their information and there is room on the governing board’s agenda. The board meets the first and third Thursdays of each month. The terms involved will expire in January 2016.

The panel’s main purpose is to advise the city’s Redevelopment Authority on redevelopment area plans, incentive programs, special-events funding and related matters.

The Redevelopment Authority membership is the same as the Board of Supervisors’ whenever it convenes for such redevelopment issues.
