Community Sports: Carson Middle wins hoops title

Carson Middle School’s eighth-grade basketball team won three straight games to capture the TahNeva championship at Pau Wa Lu in Gardnerville.

The locals knocked off South Tahoe and Whittell before pounding Carson Valley, 67-32 for the championship.

Members of the team are Zach Carr, Abel Carter, Kyle Glanzmann, Dawson Lamb, Trevor Muckensturm, Wyatt Rooker, Jerry Thomas, Landon Truesdale and Damian Wallace. Jackson Frank is on he team, but didn’t play in he tournament. The coach is Joe Tierney .


Volleyball winter skills clinic scheduled

Dayton High volleyball coach Monica Halverson is holding a volleyball skills camp on Dec. 30-31 at Dayton High School.

The two-day clinic is open to boys and girls currently in third through eighth grade. The clinic goes from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. each day. The cost is $20 a day or $35 for both days. The cost includes instruction and a camp T-shirt.

Carson JV boys win easily vs. Huskies

Tez Allen scored 20 points to lead Carson’s JV boys basketball team to an easy 72-54 win over Reno Monday night at Morse Burley Gym.

Greg Wallace chipped in 16 and Cody Azevedo 14 for the Senators, who improved to 7-1 on the season heading into this week’s State Farm Classic in Reno.
