The month of February is National Heart Health Month and so the council has devised The Meter Eater. The challenge for staff is to log as many meters as possible during the month of February while staff is at school between 6:30-7 a.m. and 2:30-3 p.m. Special prizes will be given to the staff person with the highest logged meters.The time frames of logging meters are actually before and after contract hours of the high school staff. Get out and do your own heart some good.SENIORS GOING TO WNCThe last orientation program for seniors interested in attending Western Nevada College is coming up. College counselors will again be conducting orientation sessions to the Bridge to Success program on Wednesday. Students need to sign up for a time at the guidance office. The roses will be delivered on Feb. 14 to students during their B2 class. Be sure to come by and order yours today. Roses can be purchased at lunch in front of the library and in the north foyer. Don’t miss out.ALUMNI NIGHTCHS Senator Pride is holding the seventh annual Alumni Night at CHS on Friday.It also happens to be Senior Night for our current basketball teams as they take on our rival, the Douglas Tigers. All CHS alumni are invited to come and see the final home game of the year. Free admission is granted to alumni of CHS with a variety of drawings and raffles to be held just for them.Prizes include goodie bags and a two-year complimentary pass for two for all CHS home games for the 2013-2014 season. Senator Pride will also be hosting a raffle that evening with proceeds going to our co-worker Lance Godec as he has been battling some health issues.SENIOR SPOTLIGHTThis week’s spotlighted senior is Michelle Sandage. She has a weighted grade-point average of 4.41. Michelle has been on the varsity soccer team for the last four years and skied on the varsity ski team for one year, earning academic letters twice as well as academic all state.She is also on an Olympic Development Program Region 4 Team.She is a member of Health Occupations Students of America and participates in the youth group at Lifepoint Church.Somehow, she also finds time to work part-time as a math tutor, and volunteers as a referee for AYSO.Her hobbies include hiking, skiing, swimming and backpacking.In the fall, Michelle will be attending William Jessup University in Rocklin, Calif., where she will be playing soccer.She’s been offered both athletic and merit-based scholarships at the university.
