The bill to pay Professor Friend $300 for his services to furnish meteorological reports is a modest one and as just as ever. At the rate of $12 per month he has worked hard. Recently a resolution was adopted by the Senate that the clock of the chamber be regulated by Friend's time, which is corrected daily by astrological observations. It seems an insult that a man should work so hard for the State with his own instruments and be snubbed by the Senate. It is hoped a motion to reconsider will prevail.

110 years ago

A little town called Winnemucca out on the Nevada desert wants the capitol. It's quite a joke, and the Legislature should pass the bill and see if the people want to saddle a debt of two million on themselves. The preposition has hung over the city for years, and should be settled this session. Winnemucca will keep the joke going unless the people want the capitol moved.

70 years ago

The Carson Senators defeated the Stewart Braves by the score of 32 to 25 at Stewart despite the absence of some Carson regulars. Laxalt led in the scoring with 18 points followed by Sam of the Braves with 16. The Senators have lost only one game of nine this season to the Reno Huskies.

The home of Lucy Crowell was the place for the meeting of the John C. Fremont Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The following were elected delegates to the upcoming state conference: Mrs. Clarence Thornton, Mrs. Baxter, Mrs. Frank Gregory and Mrs. Isle Bair.
