A fight is being made against the printing of the statutes of Nevada in this State. There are plenty of printers during these dull times in need of employment and a preference should be given them over the cheap "rat" labor of San Francisco. The lawyers who favor San Francisco printers must reason if Nevada litigants employing first class legal talent in Nevada were to send to San Francisco for the cheap shysters of Dunbar Ally. Nevada needs to look out for its own industries.

After sinking only 100 feet Ned Fothergill yesterday tapped an artesian flow at his father's place in the northern part of this city. The well was drilled for the sole purpose of obtaining water for his house. For forty years Mr. Fothergill has been raising water with a hand pump. Mr. Fothergill and his family will enjoy the convenience.

John Jackson as been appointed manager of the Carson City Safeway store as a successor to Mr. W.S. Sparks, who resigned recently to take a position with a shipbuilding firm in Portland. Jackson has been market manager for the past several months.

The Nevada Senate passed and sent to legislators a pay raise of more than 60 percent. The measure would raise present pay from $25 to $40 a day and daily subsistence pay from $15 to $25. Under terms of the measure, lawmakers could not make more than $2,400 any one session.

Col. Howard J. Ingersoll, a 1965 Carson High School graduate, has been nominated to the U.S. Senate for appointment as brigadier general in the U.S. Air Force.
