Captain Avery's Hole-In-The-Wall is now run by electric wires running from behind the bar all over the place, to the billiard table, card rooms and keno department. The patrons simply press the indicators and think for a time they are in the Palace Hotel. The barkeep is in direct communications with the tiger's lair and can feel the animals' pulse without leaving his post of duty.

The guano caves recently discovered in eastern White Pine county have now been thoroughly explored, and found to have 50 to 100 feet of thickness. Borings estimate some 50,000 tons of guano worth $20 to $35 per ton in Los Angeles.

The Ormsby County Salvage Committee is now stressing the collection of hunting knives for use by the boys fighting for their lives in the jungles of the South Pacific. Wanted are blades at least four inches in length. Knives will be on display in the Meyers Hardware window display.

District Judge Michael Gibbons gave Douglas County the thumbs down to a slow-growth initiative after a day-long hearing in a packed courtroom. An initiative passed by voters limited building dwelling units to 280 per year.
