2 Carson-area brothers arrested in burglaries involving bike, jewelry

Two Carson City-area brothers were arrested Tuesday in connection with a spate of recent burglaries after a deputy saw them pushing an allegedly stolen bicycle.According to the arrest report:A deputy saw Matthew Curtis, 21, and Kyle Curtis, 25, walking down Robinson Street around 3 p.m. The deputy noticed Kyle Curtis looked like the suspect in a burglary two weeks prior. He was next to his brother, pushing a new-looking road bike that matched the description of the bike taken in the burglary.Kyle Curtis walked with a slight limp, matching the alleged burglar's description, and the bike was the same brand as the one that had been stolen. The deputy stopped Kyle Curtis after he disobeyed a red, do-not-walk light at Washington and Carson streets. His brother had disappeared, and the road bike was leaning against the side of a building. The deputy called out where he had last seen Matt Curtis. Another deputy found him in the 1000 block of Carson Street. Also according to the arrest report:Matt Curtis had a woman's gold ring and four pawn slips in his pockets, for a digital camera allegedly stolen during a different burglary and pieces of jewelry. He told the deputy he pawns things his brother gives him after his brother burglarizes a home.Kyle Curtis told detectives he took the silver-colored road bike during a burglary.Deputies returned the bike, valued at more than $1,000, to its owner.Matt Curtis was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, obtaining money under false pretenses, burglary and possession of stolen property. His bail was set at $85,000.Kyle Curtis was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, disobedience to a traffic-control device and ex-felon failure to change address, with bail set at $25,329.
