Western Nevada College Softball Coach Leah Wentworth said her team exhibited a bit of a split personality in its home doubleheader Friday against Colorado Northwestern Community College.-

In the opening contest at Edmonds Field, the Wildcats led for much of the way and ultimately grabbed a 4-2 victory. But in the nightcap they were unable to manufacture hits while the Spartans dominated in a 9-1 game. -

WNC grabbed a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning off three consecutive hits from Jennifer Quam, Madison Gonzalez and Andi Lee.

The Wildcats' final score came in the third inning. Lee reached on an error, and soon afterward, Alexia Alley hit an RBI single to bring Lee home.

Ali Lostra went the distance allowing only four hits by the Spartans in six innings.

In the nightcap, the Wildcats' only run came in the first inning on a hit by Alisha Neilson.

"We're having trouble getting timely hits," said Head Coach Leah Wentworth. "We have to get better at executing in those types of situations." She said freshman pitcher Carlee Beck, who took the loss, just needs experience on the mound and will become a solid contributor.

The teams meet again at noon today.
