(AP) — A proposal for a specialty license plate marking 150 years since Nevada became a state has had its first hearing in the Legislature. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the bill went before the Assembly Transportation Committee Thursday, but didn’t go up for a vote.Neena Laxalt of the Nevada Sesquicentennial Planning Committee says her organization is happy with the proposed design, which is royal blue and resembles the state flag. It has a line saying “The Silver State” along with the dates 1864 and 2014.Some of the proceeds from the plates would go to cover costs of the state’s 150th anniversary festivities.Gov. Brian Sandoval said earlier this week that he’s looking forward to seeing the plate on cars throughout Nevada.
