Minor Ranch family gets watershed award

The Carson Water Subconservancy District has selected the Minor Ranch family of Dayton to receive the 2013 Andy Aldax Carson River Watershed Award for exemplary service in conservation and protection of the Carson River watershed. This award was created in 2007 to recognize individuals or organizations for significant contributions in promoting and achieving goals of the Carson River Watershed Vision Statement. The Minor Ranch family was nominated for 64 years of Carson River watershed conservation, community leadership, education and conservation projects applied to the ground. Gene (deceased) and Delphine as patriarch/ matriarch of the family, Tom and Shaun, along with their children Tyler and Jennifer, have donated over 3,000 volunteer hours to conservation of the Carson River watershed. Family members have served on multiple community boards, authored state legislation, been named 4-H Leader of the Year (Delphine), and hosted numerous ranch tours demonstrating conservation measures and an annual community Easter egg hunt. We continue to be grateful for their many years of dependable and enthusiastic service to the entire Carson River watershed. The award will be presented to the Minor Ranch family at the CWSD Board meeting at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16 in the Ormsby Room of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, 911 E. Musser St. All are welcome and encouraged to attend the meeting and presentation.
